LaDonna H. Fuge, MD

LaDonna H. Fuge, MD has worked with our Inpatient Medicine Rotation since 1992. For two months in each of the first and second years Residents get the opportunity to work with Dr. Fuge on her private patients that are admitted to Forbes. In addition, Dr. Fuge holds weekly extra education sessions on quality promotion and cost containment efforts in an evidenced based environment.

A former graduate of our residency, Dr. Fuge works at her private Family Practice office in the local community. The CARE Team, as they are called, combines a strong patient education approach with Community Education, including a newsletter. Committed to Caring is published by Dr. Fuge and her staff eight to thirteen times a year; covering such topics as: information of Preventative Health Care, how to work with Insurance company “rules”, living with your chronic health issues, the latest offerings of medications or risks. Special arrangements can be made to do an Outpatient Family Practice / Ambulatory Rotation in her office.

Dr. Fuge has served in many Administrative capacities at Forbes, including: twelve years as Department Chairman, three years as Medical Director of the Forbes Hospital, and various Medical Staff Officers including President of the Medical Staff. She continues to be an advocate for patient autonomy and safety.

LaDonna and her husband live on a little, forty-acre working farm. They have raised such diverse livestock as: American Quarter Horses, Akitas, swine and ducks. Their teenage daughter, Sikira and younger son, LT round out their family. The family shares their time between home at Promises Kept Farm and their north PA cottage for fishing. Personally interested in scrapbooking and photography, Dr. Fuge recently published (April 2008) her autobiography: LHF MD: Love, Humor, Faith; My Destiny – The Making of a Modern Medical Woman.
