The Western Pennsylvania Hospital
Since its incorporation in 1848 as the first chartered hospital
west of the Allegheny Mountains, The Western
Pennsylvania Hospital has had a rich history of leadership and
innovation in medicine - expanding its services and programs and
enhancing its medical staff, technological capabilities, and
commitment to education and research.
Today, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital is a nationally respected,
512-bed tertiary-care medical center, providing a full range of
services including highly sophisticated treatment for cancer,
cardiovascular disease, high-risk pregnancies and diabetes, and an
innovative, aggressive approach to burn care. The knowledge and
expertise of our medical staff contribute to the strength and
diversity of the Hospital's patient care, teaching, and research
programs.
