Vacations

n annual paid vacation of 3 weeks is provided to residents per hospital policy.  One of the three weeks may be taken piece-meal, while the remaining two must be taken as one week blocks.  No more than two residents are allowed on vacation at any one time, unless approved by the acting chief resident and the residency coordinator.  No vacation may be scheduled between June 14^th and July 15^th, during the scheduled conferences or during yearly educational opportunities, as previously mentioned.  Time at approved conferences and interviews for fellowships is not considered vacation. 

            In addition, there are several long weekends throughout the course of the year, including Thanksgiving, Independence Day, and Memorial Day.  Residents also receive between 5 and 7 days off at either Christmas or New Years.
