About Allegheny General Hospital
llegheny General Hospital is a part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System and is located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s historic North Side. It is a non-profit, 420 bed, Level 1 Shock Trauma Center and is one of the largest tertiary care centers in the region.
The hospital offers a full array of services including: general medical and surgical care, intensive care (NNICU, PICU, SICU, CCU, MICU, NICU, and Trauma SICU), cardiology, open-heart surgery, gastroeneterology, infectious disease, neurology, pediatrics, pediatric surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT, urology, and emergency medicine. In addition, the hospital offers 24 residencies and fellowships in 12 different specialty areas.
Allegheny General Hospital admits nearly 32,000 patients and logs about 56,000 emergency visits and 28,000 surgical procedures each year. Approximately 1,250 physicians and 4,600 employees share the hospital's commitment to excellence in patient care, medical education and research.
