![]() The Emergency/Sports Medicine Fellowship ProgramEdward Snell, M.D., Program Director Length of program: 1 year The program requires fellows to conduct a clinical research project and present at national meetings. Fellows participate in Orthopaedic Grand Rounds and weekly meetings to review current literature in sports medicine. In addition, fellows are responsible for covering mass events such as Citiparks events, the Great Race, the international squash tournament and national wrestling tournaments. Fellows also cover sporting events at the college, high school and professional levels and are responsible for following college and high school teams with weekly training rooms, implementing a continuity of care program. Throughout the program, fellows learn the most recent bracing, rehabilitation and diagnostic techniques available in sports medicine. Trained by professionals in manipulation, fellows learn current treatment techniques, including injections, casting, prolotherapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, and massage techniques. The program allows fellows to participate in computer/telemedicine-driven diagnostic and treatment protocols. The program's structure permits fellows to be exposed to the newest surgical orthopaedic innovations with leading orthopaedists in sports medicine, upper extremity, foot/ankle, pediatric, and spine surgery. The fellows advance through the following rotations during their one year fellowship:
