Megan M. Barnes, Pharm.D.
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident
E-mail: mbarnes@wpahs.org
Hometown:
Blue Knob, PA
Education/ Post-Graduate Training:
Duquesne U niversity
Why AGH/Pittsburgh:
After completing a rotation as a student at AGH it was obvious that the pharmacists here have a passion for the profession. That passion allows them to be great clinicians and teachers that make them ideal role models to new pharmacists like myself. The pharmacy residency program has opportunities in many areas of practice with enough flexibility for residents to pursue their own areas of interest.
Professional Interests/Future Goals:
My future plans are currently undecided. I am considering pursuing a specialty residency.

Why AGH/Pittsburgh:
I was interested in critical care and liked the variety of critical care experiences available here. Also, I liked the size of the residency programs and number of different clinical specialists.
Professional Interests/Future Goals:
I want to be a clinical specialist (ICU area of choice to be determined) and travel everywhere in my free time!

Professional Interests/Future Goals:
My professional interests include Infectious Diseases and Oncology. Following PGY1 residency training I hope to enter a PGY2 specialty residency in one of these areas. Ultimately, I hope to obtain a clinical position in an academic institution.

E-mail: mmcgraw1@wpahs.org
Hometown:
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Education/ Post-Graduate Training:
Duquesne University
Why AGH/Pittsburgh:
I chose Allegheny General Hospital because it allows for many different opportunities to learn. It is a tertiary care facility with many different clinical specialty areas which will help to provide a well-rounded learning experience. I wanted to stay in Pittsburgh because it’s a great city and my husband and family are here!
Professional Interests/Future Goals:
My areas of interests include: Critical Care, Infectious Disease and Nutrition Support. I hope to eventually have the opportunity to become a clinical pharmacist in a teaching hospital.
Heather Rouse, Pharm.D.
PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident
E-mail: hrouse@wpahs.org
Hometown:
Elizabethtown
Education/ Post-Graduate Training:
Temple University School of Pharmacy, Philadelphia, PA
Why AGH/Pittsburgh:
I chose AGH because I wanted to do a residency at a large academic center that had a variety of rotations to give me a well rounded PGY1 residency experience. The preceptors are all well trained with one or two year residencies and many have their BCPS which was also appealing to me.
Professional Interests/Future Goals:
I am interested in completing a PGY2 Infectious Disease residency next year. I would ideally like to work in a large academic institution where I can work with pharmacy students and residents as an Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. I am also interested in staying involved with local pharmacy organizations such as ASHP and ACCP.
Colleen Timlin, Pharm.D.
PGY2 Oncology Specialty Resident
E-mail: ctimlin@wpahs.org
Hometown:
Scranton, PA (Yes, the site of the show ‘The Office’)
Education/ Post-Graduate Training:
Pharm.D.: Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
PGY1 Residency: Allegheny General Hospital
Why AGH/Pittsburgh:
AGH is one of approximately 50-60 hospitals in the country with an oncology residency program; the only active program in Pennsylvania. After completing my pharmacy practice year, I wanted to stay because of the positive learning experience I gained from the preceptors of the program and staff, the desire of the department to move the profession of pharmacy forward and the strong devotion to patient care. Also, Pittsburgh is the most livable city in the US!
Professional Interests/Future Goals:
Upon completing this year, I hope to practice in an urban teaching hospital with opportunities to teach students and residents.
