About the Pharmacy Practice Program


The Critical Care Pharmacy Practice Residency is a 12-month, post-graduate program, with emphasis on the integrated approach to the application of advanced clinical skills.  The goal of the Specialty Residency Program is to refine the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to pursue rational drug therapy in a collaborative environment for a critically ill patient population.  Residents will participate in a variety of required rotations and elective rotations including:

  • Medical Intensive Care  (2 months required)

  • Trauma Intensive Care  (2 months required)

  • Coronary Care (required)

  • Infectious Diseases (required)

  • Pharmacokinetics (required)

  • Cardiothoracic Surgical Intensive Care

  • Emergency Medicine

  • Neurosurgery/Neurology Intensive Care

  • Neonatal/Pediatric Intensive Care

The rotations will address essential outcome objectives and provide experience in:

  • Team-based Patient Care

  • Drug Monitoring

  • Interdisciplinary Committee Activities

  • Pharmacotherapy

  • Teaching

  • Writing and Presentation Skills

  • Basic Research
