Sample Interview Agenda:

The typical interview lasts for approximately four to five hours.  Applicants are provided with the opportunity to meet with several faculty members and the current fellows.  Sufficient time is provided for applicants to visit the inpatient and outpatient dialysis centers and ask any questions they may have about the program. The following is a sample agenda for a typical interview:

Meet with Two Additional Faculty Members 1/2-Hour Each
Lunch and tour of Facilities with Current Fellows 1 to 1 and 1/2 Hours

Directions to Allegheny General Hospital:

Directions from Airport:

Exit airport and take route 60 South. Route 60 south will merge with Route 30 South. Take 60/30 South to I-279 North. Continue on I-279 North through the Fort Pitt Tunnel.  Take the North Side/North Shore Exit and proceed across the Fort Duquense Bridge.  Once on the Bridge stay to the right so that you will continue on I-279.  Once off bridge, take the East Ohio Street Exit (Exit 7C). Stay to the left on the exit (I-279 South) and make a left at the traffic light onto East Ohio Street.  Proceed through the East Ohio Street business district to James Street.  (James Street is the second street on the right in the business district). Turn right onto James Street.  Follow James Street through three stop signs and one traffic light.  Turn left into the parking garage.  Please park and bring your ticket to your interview.

Directions from the South (Pittsburgh/Monroeville:

Take I-376 West to I-279 North to the North Side/North Shore Exit. Take I-279 and cross the Fort Duquense Bridge. Once on the bridge stay to the right so that you will continue on I-279. Once off bridge, take the East Ohio Street Exit (Exit 7C).  Stay to the left on the exit and make a left at the traffic light onto East Ohio Street. Proceed through the East Ohio Street business district to James Street.  Turn right onto St. James Street. The parking garage will be on the left. Please park and bring your ticket to your interview.

Directions from the North:

Take I-79 South to I-279 South. I-279 South to exit 8B. At exit continue through the stop sign and make a right at the first light onto North Avenue.  At the next traffic light, turn right onto James Street. The parking garage is on the left. Please park and bring your ticket to your interview.

Directions from Route 28 North/Allegheny Valley Exit:

Follow Route 28 South to East Ohio Street.  Bear right at the sign marked East Ohio Street/I-279.  Follow signs to East Ohio Street.  Continue straight through three traffic lights into the East Ohio Street business district. Turn right onto James Street (second street on right in business distritct). Follow James Street through three stop signs and one traffic light. Go straight at traffic light. Turn left into parking garage. Please park and bring your ticket to your interview.

Parking:

Parking is available in the James Street Parking Garage adjacent to East North Avenue, as noted above in the directions. Please bring the white parking ticket with you to the interview. It will be replaced with a pink parking ticket which will allow you to exit from the parking garage free of charge.

 

Directions to Division of Nephrology and Hypertension:

From James Street Parking Garage:

Take elevators in James Street Parking Garage to Level 1.  Follow hallway through set of revolving doors midway down the hall and continue to intersection in hallways. Turn left and follow signs for "Elevator B".  There will be two banks of elevators, one located on each side of the hall.  Take either one to the Fourth Floor.  You will see a set of glass doors upon exiting the elevator.  Our reception area is directly through the doors.  Please give your name to the receptionist, and she will notify the program coordinator of your arrival.

From Main Entrance of Hospital (Rotunda):

Ask the hotel shuttle driver to drop you off at the main entrance or rotunda at AGH. Once you have gone through the revolving doors and up a short flight of steps, walk straight down the hallway, following the signs for "Elevator B". The elevators are located midway down the hall.  There will be two banks of elevators, one located on each side of the hall.  Take either one to the Fourth Floor.  You will see a set of glass doors upon exiting the elevator.  Our reception area is directly through the doors.  Please give your name to the receptionist, and she will notify the program coordinator of your arrival.
