Brief Narrative:
I'm sure everyone's had enough of "This is why I wanted to become a
doctor," with their personal statements and interviews. I'll just say
I was never satisfied with my scope of training/practice as a Red
Cross first aider, First Responder, or EMT. I did the usual high school
and college. Then I took a year out before med school to do web application
programming and the odd bit of perl, then off to the Frozen North
(Rochester, NY) for med school and some volunteer EMTing on the side.
Then out to Pittsburgh (a nice step up in living conditions, I might
add) and Allegheny General Hospital. And because it cannot be said
enough: the AGH ER nursing and ancillary staff, by and large, are the
BEST I have ever worked with. Residency is never precisely /fun,/ but
the people make ER at AGH probably as close as it gets.
Interests:
Backpacking, canoeing, computers, EMS, fantasy, history of medicine,
martial arts, Pennsic, renaissance fairs (Sterling, Pittsburgh,
PennRen, and MDRF this year!)
