Medical School: Medical University of Ohio (University of Toledo) Undergraduate: Muskingum College; B.A. Psychology with a minor in Chemistry Hometown: East Liverpool, OH Brief Narrative: Hey, I'm one of the juniors, newly married of 2 years on December 19th, 2006. My wife is currently in physician assistant school at Seton Hill University in Greensburg. We're both into mission work, both Christian evangelistic and medical. We've each been to Ghana, Honduras, and Guatemala; Guatemala being our first mission trip together. Our big goals outside of medicine are to become fluent in another language via total immersion, and hopefully doing 2-3 years full time in Africa once we're finished with our education. About places to live, I'm quite partial to the Mount Washington area, we bought a great 2 bedroom house a block from Granview Blvd. Mt. Washington is great for dusk and night walks and seeing the Pittsburgh skyline. It's near both of the famous Inclines. No children currently, with no plans on having any before residency, instead we train/dote on/spoil our gorgeous Doberman Anora. We're trying to find a brother for her, hopefully by August 5th. My interests include spending as much time with my wife as residency allows (and sometimes more), reading and rereading every Harry Potter novel, reading anything written by Ann Coulter, Tolkien, and Robert Jordan, downloading music, and walking my dog(s). AGH was my first choice for residency. Caroline and I had to invent our own version of couple's match, I only interviewed in places where there was a PA school nearby, and she limited her PA applications to where I could go to residency. We ranked AGH #1 honestly for the gestalt feeling that's hard to break down, best residency for me that had the best program for her. You can use FRIEDA and EMRA and other things for statistics, but your choice in residency has to be where your personality meshes well with those you'll work with. I clicked with the residents I met on my interview day. I laughed more and felt more relaxed than at any other interview. These people will be like family in seeing your best and worst sides. I chose AGH because I thought this group of people was the ones with whom I wanted to learn my specialty.
