Undergrad:   University of Virginia

Hometown: Clarksville, VA

Narrative:

While I would have loved to have lived my life without ever having to leave Virginia, I am happy to have had the opportunity to travel during medical school, spending time in Washington DC, Baltimore, Chicago, Miami and the Caribbean. Never would I have thought I would have ended up in Pittsburgh! I wanted a combined EM/IM residency because it opened numerous doors to career and research opportunities. Being a resident at AGH has been a great experience because we get the opportunity to see unique pathology. The hospital is located in an underserved area but has an excellent reputation as a tertiary care center so we get the best of both worlds in training. While I am most definately heading back south after residency, I am confident that AGH was an excellent place for training no matter what I find myself doing in the future.

Interests:

Professionally, I am interested in critical care medicine and infectious diseases. Personally, I enjoy snow and water skiing, reading, and baking. When not in the hospital, I'm usually relaxing at home with my husband, Chip, and my cats, Eminem and Zac.
