Cytopathology Fellowship
A one-year fellowship in cytopathology offers advanced training with emphasis on fine needle aspiration biopsy and the selective application of ancillary techniques. Two positions are available. The fellows will have increasing levels of responsibility commensurate with level of performance. Emphasis is also placed on the integration of surgical pathology with cytology and the use of both air-dried Diff-Quik and alcohol-fixed Papanicolaou stains, as well as liquid-based mono-layer preparations. The fellows will participate in the service, teaching and research activities of the laboratory. The laboratory accessions approximately 20,000 cytology specimens per year with an expanding fine needle aspiration biopsy service. Elective time is also available for the fellow to pursue other areas of interest in anatomic pathology. The fellows also review the numerous cytology consults sent to the faculty. Opportunities for regional and national teaching exist.
