Alle-Kiski Medical Center Appoints Vice President of Patient Care Services
September 09, 2009Natrona Heights, Pa., - In August, Elaine Hatfield, RN, BSN, NHA, MPM, was named Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Alle-Kiski Medical Center (AKMC), a role she served on an interim basis from June 2008 to February 2009. Ned Laubacher, President and Chief Executive Officer announced the appointment.
Ms. Hatfield, a registered nurse for nearly 30 years, previously served as Director of Ambulatory Nursing at AKMC. Among her past accomplishments and prior to joining AKMC, she served as Chief Clinical Officer of a 155-bed freestanding, long-term acute care hospital. In this role she succeeded in coordinating the opening of a new “hospital within a hospital” at Allegheny General Hospital – Suburban Campus.
Ms. Hatfield earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Duquesne University and her Masters of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Ms. Hatfield is currently enrolled in an executive leadership program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Hatfield also holds a license as a Nursing Home Administrator and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and is President-elect of the South Western Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders (SWPONL). Throughout her career Ms. Hatfield has conducted research and authored several published articles focused on quality, patient safety, and senior care. She currently resides in Gibsonia, PA with her husband John and son Ian Hatfield.
