Alle-Kiski Medical Center has four special inpatient care units at Allegheny Valley Hospital. One of the those care areas is the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), which is an intermediate care unit.
PCU is a "telemetry" unit where cardiac monitoring is provided to patients with medical and surgical conditions. The 16-bed unit is staffed by registered nurses with special training and equipped with computerized monitors that provide critical patient information. Opened in the fall of 1997, PCU also cares for patients whose conditions require a more intensive nursing presence.
