As one of the newest affiliate locations, we are proud to be a part of Joslin, a world leader in diabetes treatment, research and education. Established in 1898, the Joslin Diabetes Center is an internationally recognized diabetes treatment, research and education institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School and headquartered in Boston. When Elliott P. Joslin, M.D., began treating patients, he believed that patients needed to be actively involved in their own care. The Joslin Diabetes Center at AKMC uses a team approach to diabetes self-management including a specially trained physician, nurse, dietitian and exercise physiologist. In addition, we offer a wide variety of programs, classes and support groups for the person with diabetes as well as their significant other.
