If your physician has ordered medical imaging for you, you'll want that test at a hospital that offers the latest technology, skilled and caring staff, and hours of operation that are convenient for you - not the facility that is providing the test.

At Canonsburg General Hospital, you have all three.  And with new, expanded hours of operation, you can get an appointment that fits your lifestyle and your specific schedule even more.

With the exception of general X-ray, appointments are required.   To schedule, please call 724-745-3904.

The Ultrasound Department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to perform all scanning procedures including OB-GYN, abdominal, gallbladder, liver, breast, thyroid, pancreas, extremities, aorta and chest.  This department also performs invasive procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, biopsies and aspirations.

PET/CT
Scanning:  Canonsburg General Hospital has recently added PET/CT to its growing complement of advanced diagnostic medical imaging services.  PET/CT is indicated in the initial staging of multiple malignancies including lung, head and neck, breast, colorectal, lymphoma and melanoma.  It is also useful in restaging, following treatment.  The fusion of PET and CT allows the sensitive physiologic assessment of PET to be complemented by the precise anatomic localization of CT to improve diagnostic accuracy.  The result is better localization and estimation of tumor size that can generally be achieved with either modality alone.

Osteoporosis is a disease that reduces the strength of the bones, causing them to become brittle and prone to fractures. We offer the most advanced equipment available today assuring the most complete risk assessment possible.

Mammography Center: The Breast Imaging Center at Canonsburg General Hospital is staffed by a highly qualified and experienced staff.  The technologists are boarded in Mammography and the physicians who read the exams are board certified radiologists who meet the standards set forth by the American College of Radiology as well as being certified by the FDA which affirms that we have complied with the requirements of the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 and we are authorized to perform mammography examinations due to our high standards of imaging.

All of the mammography films taken at Canonsburg General Hospital are reviewed for a second time via a computer-aided detection (CAD) program provided through Allegheny General Hospital's Breast Care Center.  Using pre-established parameters, the computer creates a report that highlights potentially suspicious areas that need further review by the radiologist.  This technology has the ability to recognize the early warning signs of breast cancer that may otherwise go undetected by the normal eye.

On-line scheduling for mammography can be made via the West Penn Allegheny System homepage at www.wpahs.org.
