Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship

Long-standing orthopaedic foot fellowship combining the best of academic and private practice settings. This fellowship is a high volume practice emphasizing the development of the fellows surgical skills with didactic teaching and intensive hands-on surgical experience. This fellowship offers a broad exposure to primary and tertiary care foot and ankle problems that will give the Fellow the knowledge and surgical skills to perform at a high level in a private practice or academic environment. The program is designed for those desiring a one-on-one intense surgical experience with progressive autonomy without the encumbrances of on-call duties, night or weekend responsibilities, or emergency room coverage. The fellowship has been in continuous operation since 1993 and includes well-recognized foot and ankle specialists who are committed to patient care, education, and research. Nonoperative and operative treatment options are discussed for each patient in a clinic setting which is staffed by pedorthists, orthotists, and physical therapists. The heart of the fellowship is a rich surgical experience which includes the use of several total ankle replacement systems. Forefoot, midfoot, hindfoot, ankle, sports, diabetic, rheumatologic, and posttraumatic cases are equally represented. A well-developed didactic program including lectures, Grand Rounds, foot conferences, anatomy dissection, and paid travel to the annual Academy meeting and summer AOFAS meetings has been developed. Fellows who are interested are encouraged to perform research, and laboratory facilities are available. Fellows are introduced to medical group business principles and practices to prepare them for their own practices. Job search assistance is provided. Fellows must have completed a U.S. orthopaedic residency program, Board-eligible, and eligible for Pennsylvania medical licensure.
