Education

Our program is designed to allow trainees to do good quality clinical research. Our faculty members believe this is an important aspect of vascular surgery training, whether or not the trainee plans on an academic career. Our residents and fellows can participate in externally sponsored projects, and they are also encouraged to design and carry out additional projects of their own choosing. Funding for well-designed projects is available through the Allegheny Heart Institute, a non-profit research entity associated with Allegheny General Hospital. Some of the fellows’ projects are funded through internal departmental funds. A professional statistician is available to assist the fellows in data analysis.
