Training Sites
Training sites for our Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program include Allegheny General Hospital, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Forbes Regional Hospital, and Allegheny Valley Hospital/Ambulatory Care Center.
Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), founded in 1885 on Pittsburgh’s North Side, is a 661-bed hospital with an international reputation for excellence in quality, patient care, and innovation. The hospital has been recognized as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Thomson Healthcare and has received the Consumer Choice award for western Pennsylvania.
AGH offers some of the most advanced healthcare to women, including Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Robotics Surgery, General Gynecology, Gynecologic Surgery, and outpatient resident clinical care.
The Western Pennsylvania Hospital (WPH) is a 292-bed academic medical center that has been recognized both regionally and nationally for excellence in nursing and patient care. The hospital was founded in 1848 as the first chartered public hospital west of the Allegheny Mountains.
The Western Pennsylvania Hospital has the most active Labor & Delivery unit in our System and the second in the region, with more than 3000 deliveries annually. WPH has 15 LDRP suites, an antepartum unit and separate postpartum unit. West Penn is home to the second most active Level III NICU in the region: the 45-bed unit receives more than 700 admissions annually.
Forbes Regional Hospital (FRH) is a 318-bed community hospital located in Monroeville that serves the communities of eastern Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. Solucient Institute has named Forbes as one of the nation’s 100 Top Performance Improvement Leaders.
A new Women’s and Infants' Care Center opened at Forbes in May 2007, offering patients high-quality, comprehensive care in a home-like setting that includes 11 beautifully designed LDRP suites focused on providing patient and family-centered care.
Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH) is a 250-bed community hospital in Natrona Heights with an Ambulatory Care Center in New Kensington. AVH offers a broad spectrum of inpatient medical and surgical services, inpatient psychiatric and geriatric psychiatric care, cardiology, and orthopaedics and a host of outpatient services. Our residents rotate to AVH for specialized gynecological surgery.
