Allegheny General Hospital and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital are members of the second largest healthcare system in the Pittsburgh area. Patient care facilities at both institutions are exceptional. The West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) Institutes of Excellence (Cancer Institute, Cardiovascular Institute, Neuroscience Institute and Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Institute) offer the latest technology that supports the hospital’s purpose to improve the health of the people in the western Pennsylvania region. In addition, Allegheny General Hospital is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center.
The STAR (Simulation, Teaching and Academic Research) Center
offers “out of this world” learning experiences in its virtual hospital or through its mobile outreach programs. These programs support the WPAHS mission, “to practice medicine, educate and conduct research as an integrated team of physicians, nurses and support professionals who are committed to improving the health of our patients.”
The Osteopathic Rotating Internship Program is designed to meet your needs without excessive exposure to any single disease or subspecialty. Full support services (such as a 24-hour phlebotomy team), ensure that your time and talents are used wisely. Scheduling is individualized and a reasonable call schedule, including a “night float” system, ensures that you will have time to enjoy the local culture and entertainment.
