This course is designed to introduce RNs at WPH to the basics of 12-lead EKG analysis using the Laerdal EKG Task Trainer

Learning Objectives

• Instruct staff on how to properly perform an EKG
• Understand the interpretation of cardiac abnormalities on an EKG 

Expected Outcomes

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

• Decrease the amount of time of physician notification by the RN, resulting in quicker treatment, when a critical abnormality (AMI) is noted.
• Demonstrate a reduction in the occurrence of improperly performed EKGs
