Code O Training Run Through

Back to Multidiscipline Courses

This is a two-hour course designed for West Penn Hospital healthcare professionals to practice the appropriate actions to take in an obstetrical emergency when a Code O is implemented. Course participants will collectively respond to the simulated hemorrhaging together as a team. All members of the interdisciplinary response team are expected to perform rapidly, while still executing their responsibilities with acute accuracy.

Learning Objectives

  • Review and practice Code O
  • Develop individual team member’s task list
  • Review the Condition O Process, Ex: Lab Blood bank worksheet

Expected Outcomes

  • Improve team understanding of Code O
  • Define Condition O team member task list
  • Implement the process for order and delivery and reporting labs
  • Development of Code O worksheet
