This 1.5 hour course is designed to teach basic skills needed to properly insert an intravenous catheter using the Laerdal Virtual IV Task Trainer and Simulators.  Proper care for the patient with an IV catheter is discussed, as well as, documentation.

• To define the proper technique and procedure for IV insertions
• To demonstrate the ability to properly inseert an IV
• To recognize complications that can occur with IV insertions
• To demonstrate proper documentation of procedure
