“Our EMS students train in the environment they will be working in when they graduate. This prepares them for the challenges they will encounter and provides them with the confidence that is only obtained through experience.” |
STAR’s second anniversary celebration featured the unveiling of its Ambulance Simulator, the back portion of a real ambulance installed at the entrance to the virtual hospital. Emergency medical services (EMS) students and practitioners use this simulator to learn or practice their field and transport skills and use STAR’s conference and class rooms for lectures and debriefings.
Taking first-responder simulation to the next level, STAR’s Mobile Ambulance, which joins its fleet of simulators in March 2012, is a real, ‘on the road’ ambulance. It achieves the pinnacle of simulation for first responders – providers can truly experience resuscitation under real-life conditions.
Funds for the Mobile Ambulance were donated by The Governing Board of The Women’s Committee of
The Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
Educators wanting to request Mobile STAR are invited to download, complete, and submit the
