The West Penn Allegheny Health System is host to an extensive array of
research initiatives geared to converting theory to clinical success.
National funding sources include the American Cancer Society, the Department
of Education, the National Cancer Institute, the National Institutes of
Health, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the American Heart
Association, the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney
Diseases, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Eye
Institute and the National Library of Medicine. We're also home to the
international headquarters of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and
Bowel Project (NSABP), the largest breast cancer research study in the
United States. In addition, we have teaching affiliations with the schools
of medicine of Temple University and Drexel University College of Medicine.
