Metabolic Syndrome, sometimes referred to as Syndrome X, is a name for a group of risk factors that occur together and dramatically increases the risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
Metabolic syndrome is becoming increasingly common in America, affecting between 25-30 percent of the U.S. population. That number seems to increase as we get older, affecting 4 in 10 Americans as they reach their 60s and 70s.
What are the symptoms? What is the treatment? Are you at risk? What can you do to reduce your risk?
