Syndrome X

Please join us as Matthew Coppola, MD, Department of Internal Medicine, Allegheny General leads a discussion on Metabolic Syndrome, also referred to as Syndrome X.

This is a group of risk factors that occur together and dramatically increases the risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

Metabolic Syndrome is becoming increasingly common in America, affecting between 25-30 percent of the U.S. population.  That number seems to increase as we get older, affecting 4 in 10 Americans as they reach their 60s and 70s.

What are the symptoms?  What is the treatment?  Are you at risk?  What can you do to reduce your risk?

This program is offered at no cost and is open to any interested adult in the community.

To register please contact Kim Scham at 412.734.4111 or 412.734.5756.
