Poinsettia display, candle lighting honors loved ones, benefits Forbes Hospice

December 08, 2008

More than 400 colorful poinsettias, purchased by local residents in memory and honor of loved ones during the holidays, will go on display at the PPG Wintergarden Monday, Dec. 8. The display benefits the respite care program at Forbes Hospice, part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.

Donors will attend a special holiday ceremony and light candles in memory of loved ones. TV personality Jennifer Antkowiak will talk about caregiving and the Golden Strolling Strings of North Allegheny High School will provide entertainment.

The Wintergarden Poinsettia Program has been a Christmas tradition since 1991 and has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Forbes Hospice’s Respite Care Program, which provides much-needed breaks for busy people who are caring for a loved one.
