A Message from Maryanne Fello

Dear Friends,

The past 31 years have been nothing less than remarkable for Forbes Hospice.  Our pioneer hospice began in February 1979, opening our doors to serve Pittsburgh and it's surrounding communities as the first in the region.  Our history is rich with the stories of extraordinary people and how they, and the ones who loved them, faced the final weeks and months of their lives with grace, dignity and courage.

Forbes Hospice is proud to have been one of the pioneer programs in the country, as well as our region, helping lead the way in improving care at the end of life.  In 1979, hospice was a concept, a philosophy, a dream for our community.  Today Forbes hospice serves over 1,600 patients and their families each year.  We continue to reach out to meet the changing needs of our population.  Our programs are evidence of this: our pediatric program, nursing home outreach, respite program, 11th hour program and 12 bed in-patient unit are just a few of the ways we have tried to meet the needs expressed to us by those we serve. This year I am deeply moved by a special program we have developed to serve our dying veterans. It’s our turn to serve those who have served their country so well.

We couldn't see the future as bright without the generous spirit of those who believe in and support our mission.  We are grateful every day to the organizations and individuals who support our efforts to give exceptional service to each person who seeks our care.

I hope this web site provide you access to the information you are seeking.  It is truly an honor and privilege to serve you.

Sincerely,

Maryanne Fello Signature

Welcome to Forbes Hospice. For 31 years it has been our privilege to serve the people of Western Pennsylvania by providing expert physical, psychological, and spiritual care to patients with serious illness and to their families.

On a personal note, it has been a tremendous pleasure for me to work for Forbes Hospice. I have never before been around professionals so committed to providing the best in patient care. We also recognize that the illness of a loved one affects families as much as it does the patient. As such, we are equally committed to supporting, comforting, and preparing families during this difficult time. Our staff of nurses, aides, social workers, clergy and volunteers are dedicated experts who will work tirelessly to provide the best possible care to you or your loved one.

Please feel free to contact me or any of our staff if you feel we can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Randy Hebert Signature
