Inpatient Unit Hospice Care
A unique part of the Forbes Hospice and Palliative Care is our 12 bed inpatient unit in the university area of the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. This unit has a home-like feel but equipped to provide state of the art care. All the rooms are private, equipped with televisions and DVD players. The care team consists of nurses, certified nursing aides, counselors, spiritual support, and trained volunteers all under the direction on-site by our full-time medical director. Dr. Randy Hebert is certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and expert on symptom management. Reasons for inpatient care can include but are not limited to:
- limited life expectancy
- symptom management issues
- respite care
- short-term residential care
Our unit encourages families and friends to visit with no restriction on visitation times. Family can stay with their loved one overnight if they would like and amenities such as a fully-equipped country kitchen, meditation room, family break room and common areas add to your comfort during this difficult time. Pictures and keepsakes can be brought in to personalize the room. Medicare and other insurances primarily cover the cost of this care. Free parking is available.
