What is Destination Wellness?

Destination WellnessDestination Wellness is a community health and wellness education resource center sponsored by Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH) which is part of Allegheny Health Network. Destination Wellness, storefront #556 in Neighborhood 5 in the Pittsburgh Mills Mall is one of the few community-based outreach centers of its kind. Destination Wellness provides a variety of health-related activities, including blood drives two times per month, hot topic programming including classes on heart disease, diabetes, weight loss, and arthritis. Destination Wellness is open six days a week to help meet your health inquiry needs.

Do you need to find a physician? Visit our friendly and courteous nurses and staff that will assist you in finding the healthcare professional and services that will best suit your needs. Do you have health questions that you may forget to ask your doctor? Come in and visit our health resource library to find the answers. Do you want to learn more about health topics? Come in and sign up today for CPR classes, physician lectures, diabetes classes through the Joslin Center for Diabetes and other health-related activities.

Donate Blood at Destination Wellness


Central Blood Bank, the region’s largest blood center, has partnered with Allegheny Valley Hospital to expand its collections activity throughout the Allegheny Valley region.  The hospital is transitioning its community blood program to Central Blood Bank.  This partnership will provide hospital blood donors with continued opportunity to support the community.  


Donor Criteria


Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with signed parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health.  Most medications are accepted.  Proper ID is required to donate blood.  A Central Blood Bank or military ID, driver’s license, passport or employee or student ID with picture and full name are all approved forms of ID.  A birth certificate along with a picture ID that includes the donor’s full name will also be accepted.

Destination Wellness Annual Health Fair


AKMC's 5th Annual Health Fair Destination Wellness holds an Annual Health Fair at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills Mall each spring. The health fair showcases health and wellness experts from AVH, local businesses, and organizations from the Alle-Kiski Valley. Past events had over 80 vendors including a Life Flight helicopter and an ambulance that participants were able to tour. The event includes physician lectures on a variety of health topics as well as health screenings. There is something at the fair for all ages to enjoy.
