Professional Nurse Externship Program
The Professional Nurse Externship Program provides an employment opportunity for the professional nursing student to strengthen and reinforce his/her knowledge and skills through clinical experience in a hospital environment under the direct supervision of a professional nurse mentor. This program is selective and students must meet specific criteria to be considered for employment. Students may be assigned to a clinical/specialty-nursing unit in which they have expressed a strong interest. To learn more about the Professional Nurse Externship Program, contact West Penn Allegheny Health System Nurse Recruiter Donna Murray, BSN, RN.
Internship Programs
There are also opportunities at West Penn for students to shadow nurses or to complete an internship. Members of the nursing staff mentor students who seek to gain exposure to work in a healthcare setting.
