Senior Associate Dean, Temple University School of Medicine and Vice President for Medical School Education
Dr. Goldberg graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1973. He completed an internship and Internal Medicine residency along with Chief Residency at the Mary Immogene Basset Hospital, Columbia University of New York, in 1977. He completed a Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1979. In 1979 he joined the faculty of the State University of New York, Syracuse, where over a 10-year period he helped develop the clinical campus in Binghamton, N.Y. While at the clinical campus he was Chief of Rheumatology, Clerkship Director for the third-year and fourth-year medical students, and Program Director for the Transitional Year and Internal Medicine residencies. In 1989 he was recruited to The Western Pennsylvania Hospital as Vice Chairman of Medicine and Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. While at West Penn he developed a Transitional Year Residency and eventually was appointed Director of Medical Education for both undergraduate and graduate training programs. In 1999 he led the way for Temple University School of Medicine to develop a clinical campus at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital. In 2000 he was promoted to Professor of Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine. In 2005 he became the Chairman of Medicine at West Penn Hospital and in 2008 was named the Vice President for Medical School Education for West Penn Allegheny Health System. In 2009 he led a committee to develop a four-year regional school partnering with one of the medical schools in Philadelphia. In 2010, Temple University School of Medicine was selected as our partner and Dr. Goldberg was appointed Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Associate Dean for Basic Sciences and Professor of Otolaryngology, Microbiology and Immunology, Temple University College of Medicine
J. Christopher Post serves as the Director of Allegheny Pediatric ENT Associates at Allegheny General Hospital, Medical Director of the Center for Genomic Sciences, and President of the Allegheny-Singer Research Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa. He is a Professor of Otolaryngology, Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel University College of Medicine and has served as the Primate Consultant for the Pittsburgh Zoo. The author of over 140 scientific articles and chapters, he has lectured extensively nationally and internationally. His research interests include such topics as bacterial biofilms and their role in otitis media, human gene discovery, the genetics of human performance and scarless wound healing.
Dr. Post received his undergraduate and MD degrees from the University of Florida and PhD in Human Genetics from the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh. He was a pediatric resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, completed an otolaryngology residency at UF, and a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. A Colonel in the Army Reserve, he commanded the first Army hospital in Afghanistan and served a second tour in special operations. He is the Army Reserve Otolaryngology Consultant to the Army Surgeon General, and recently earned a master’s degree in Strategic Sciences at the Army War College.
Dr. Post has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, the Fowler Award from the Triological Society, Best Doctors in America since 1996, the Bronze Star, and a Combat Medic Badge. He is a member of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum.
Daniel H. Benckart, MD
Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery
Dr. Benckart graduated from The University of Virginia in 1973 and Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1977. He completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital in 1982 and his Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at New York University in 1984. He has practiced cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at Allegheny General Hospital since 1984. During that time, he has been Division Director of Vascular Surgery, President of the Medical Staff, and Chairman of the Executive Committee.
