Temple University School of Medicine

Procedures for admission to the Temple University School of Medicine at West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) follow the process for admission to Temple University School of Medicine. On the application for admission to Temple University School of Medicine, applicants will be able to select the new four-year regional medical school program at WPAHS.

All applicants to Temple University School of Medicine who select the program at WPAHS and who meet the admissions criteria will be interviewed in Pittsburgh. There will be a separate admissions committee in Pittsburgh, headed by Drs. Elliot Goldberg and Daniel Benckart.  Additional members of the faculty at WPAHS will be appointed to the committee for intervieiwing and for the selection process. Drs. Goldberg and Benckart will be members of the Temple University School of Medicine Admissions Committee in Philadelphia and will attend committee meetings on a monthly basis to present students from the Pittsburgh campus for final decision. Interviewing for applicants to Temple University School of Medicine at WPAHS will begin after the affiliation between WPAHS and Highmark is completed.

Temple University School of Medicine has direct-admit programs with undergraduate institutions in the Pittsburgh area.  Qualified students from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., receive a conditional acceptance to Temple University School of Medicine earlier than the typical third-year students, but must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 and receive a score of at least 30 on the MCAT with no area less than 8.  Temple's intent is to develop several other direct linkages with our campus.
