Becker’s Hospital Review Cites West Penn for Clinical Excellence, Quality
PITTSBURGH – Becker’s Hospital Review has named West Penn Hospital to its list of “100 Hospitals With Great Women’s Health Programs,” citing its outstanding services in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine and other women’s health needs.
Hospitals are selected for the list based on clinical excellence, quality care and women’s health awards. West Penn, part of the Allegheny Health Network, was also named among the nation’s top 50 hospitals for women’s health in 2013 by U.S. News and World Report.
“At West Penn Hospital, we combine compassionate care with clinical excellence to deliver outstanding care to women of all ages,” said Allan Klapper, MD, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Allegheny Health Network. “This recognition by Becker’s is a tribute to the hard work of all our talented medical professionals and support personnel.”
Becker’s noted several of West Penn’s programs in making its designation, including the urogynecology services at the Center for Female Incontinence and Pelvic Health, the 40-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that treats about 700 critically ill infants annually, and lactation consultants who visit all new nursing mothers. Becker’s also noted West Penn’s designation as a Magnet facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
West Penn Hospital provides comprehensive health services for women and infants throughout the region. As a major provider of maternity and newborn services, West Penn offers highly personalized care that is focused on the individual needs and desires of today’s mothers and their families, and serves the needs of women at every stage of life.
