Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. Visit AHNdonate.org to learn more and register to be an organ donor.

WPXI-TV: Two Pittsburgh nurses head to Haiti to help in relief efforts

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Two Allegheny General Hospital nurses will be members of the first team of Service Employees International Union nurses to be deployed to Haiti to assist in relief efforts there.

John Ziegler, a registered nurse in the hospital's surgical intensive care unit, will lead the team.

Cece Peterson, a LifeFlight registered nurse, will also be joining the team.

Jessica Limpert, RN also jumped at the chance to go.

Limpert is set to leave on Monday, and most of what she’s packing is for the people of Haiti.

"We’re looking for everything for first aid,” said Limpert. “So, my huge bag is going to be full of supplies. Beyond that, for myself, enough water and food for the week, my clothes, baby wipes for a semi, semi shower and really that's it."
