AKMC Plans to Open Outpatient Services Center in Kiski Valley

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Natrona Heights, Pa., - Accessing health care services is about to get easier for residents in the Kiski Valley. Officials at Alle-Kiski Medical Center (AKMC) announced today plans to open an outpatient services center in the Wilson Square Professional Building currently under construction in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.
The Wilson Square Professional Building is a 15,000 square foot medical complex on Longfellow Street at the site of the former Wilson Elementary School. The complex is the future location of Mohan M. Patel, PC physician offices, Vandergrift Pharmacy and AKMC Outpatient Services. The two-level design of the building will have accessibility from both levels providing ease of access and close convenient parking for patients and customers from the upper and lower levels of the building.
AKMC’s Outpatient Center plans to offer services such as routine X-rays, mammography, EKG, sleep lab studies, a phlebotomy blood draw station and space for community health education classes in 5,600 square feet of space in the lower level of the building.
AKMC has served the healthcare needs of the Kiski Valley dating back 100 years. Members of the Vandergrift and surrounding communities were very active over the years in fundraising and supporting hospital efforts to expand.
According to William Englert, Vice President of Operations and Business Development, the residents of the Kiski Valley have traditionally been loyal supporters of AKMC. “By opening an outpatient center in the Kiski Valley we now have an opportunity to give back to this community by offering healthcare services right in their backyard. AKMC is dedicated to making our services easily accessible and this new center demonstrates our commitment,” Englert said.
Dr. Patel, an internal medicine physician in Vandergrift, has maintained an office on Longfellow Street for 27 years. “I am proud to provide care for patients in the Kiski Valley and look forward to taking care of patients in the expanded space of the new medical building. My patients will benefit from the convenient access and parking the new building will offer,” said Patel.
According to Michael C. Ong, MD, “This is another step forward in our efforts to provide excellent health care to the community.”
Paul Tallarom, pharmacist and part owner in the Vandergrift Pharmacy commented, “The professional building will be a nice addition to the local community and offer a variety of medical and pharmacy services. It will also add increased employment opportunities and the potential to attract more development.”
The Wilson Square Professional Building is being developed by the Wilson Square Professional Corporation. A groundbreaking ceremony for the building is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2009. Officials expect the Professional Building to be completed and operational in the spring of 2010.
