WPAHS Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Institute Occupy Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township

West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) announced today the Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Institute, historically affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital, are first to occupy the new medical complex on Gallery Drive in McMurray. 

The Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Institute an integrated team of physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation experts provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries. In addition to serving as the official medical provider for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball club, the medical professionals of the Institute are known for the personalized care they provide to individuals throughout the region. Led by Patrick DeMeo, MD, WPAHS Chair of Orthopeic Surgery, the team is dedicated to improving patient care through innovation and research.

With a track record of leading clinical care, it is fitting that the Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Institute is the first occupant of the new Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township. Physicians are relocating from Southpointe to provide services in one convenient location for patients as part of the new WPAHS healthcare delivery model. The new center will soon include primary care physician offices, medical and radiation oncology services, laboratory services, and advanced diagnostic imaging, and later an ambulatory surgery center.

“This center will bring a multitude of physician specialists to one facility and our patients will be able to benefit from high-level services close to home,” said Patrick DeMeo, MD, Chair Orthopaedic Surgery at West Penn Allegheny Health System.

“Part of the Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Institute design space includes a physical therapy gym and a regulation- sized pitching area with an astro-turf floor, part of our nationally recognized sports medicine program,” Dr. DeMeo stated.

Orthopaedic physicians moving to the Outpatient Care Center – Peters Township include Mark E. Baratz, MD, Darren A. Frank, MD, Mark A. Fye, MD, Dennis J. Phillips, MD, Robert E. Schilken, MD, and Christopher C. Schmidt, MD. This group of expert physicians specialize in Sports Medicine, orthopaedic spine, hand and upper extremities, and foot and ankle.
