"Explore the Power of the Mind-Body Connection at "Frontiers of Holistic Medicine," Sat., Nov. 19 at Allegheny General Hospital

PITTSBURGH – Learn more about how to harness the power of the mind-body connection at “Frontiers of Holistic Medicine: The Mind-Body Connection,” presented Saturday, Nov. 19 by Allegheny General Hospital’s Integrated Medicine Program.


The day will include lectures and demonstrations focusing on stress relief, healing, and the future impact of mind-body medicine. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the program will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at AGH’s Magovern Conference Center, 320 E. North Ave.


Keynote speaker Barry Bittman, MD, a leading physician in the field of mind-body medicine will kick off the morning’s lectures with “Mind-Body Connection: The Future of Healthcare.”


A demonstration of the healing power of music will follow Dr. Bittman’s presentation. In addition, Barbara Jean Nagrant, Ph.D., licensed psychologist with the AGH Integrated Medicine Program, will demonstrate the ancient healing art of Reiki.

In the afternoon, attendees may participate in three demonstrations: Guided Imagery, presented by Laura Crooks, RN, Certified Wellness Coach; Tai Chi, presented by J. Gurney Bolster, Certified Tai Chi Instructor, and Easy Relaxation Techniques, presented by Kathy Ferri, COTA/L, Wellness Educator.


Local vendors will exhibit in the Magovern area and attendees may visit during registration and throughout the seminar. Refreshments will also be available.


Registration is required and may be made by calling 412.DOCTORS (362.8677). A registration fee of $35 includes a healthful lunch.
