Thoracic surgeons at Pittsburgh's Allegheny General Hospital are using the advanced da Vinci robotic surgical system to perform minimally invasive lung cancer surgery, offering new hope to patients with early stage lung cancer who may not be good candidates for a more invasive operation. “Pittsburgh’s Stevie Wonder” Performs at West Penn Hospital Holiday Event

14-Year-Old Prodigy, Blind from Birth, Dazzles with Piano
WHAT: Shailen Abram of Pittsburgh’s East Hills was born at 1 pound 9 ounces in Allegheny General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, now housed at West Penn Hospital. Completely blind in his left eye and with limited vision in his right, Shailen went home to an uncertain future. But before he was even a year old, Shailen’s mother saw he had a precocious musical talent. At 14 he displays dazzling piano virtuosity and received a “Yes I Can” award from the Council on Exceptional Children in Washington, DC. He and his mother Sharon hope his appearance at West Penn Hospital today gives hope to other families of premature infants.
