McMurray, PA (December 13, 2012) – Allegheny General Hospital’s (AGH) nationally recognized Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) announced today that interventional cardiologists Travis Wilson, MD and Yadavendra Rajawat, MD have joined its medical staff and will practice at both Canonsburg General Hospital (CGH) and West Penn Allegheny Health System’s Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township.
“We are delighted to welcome Drs. Wilson and Rajawat to our CVI team,” said Srinivas Murali, MD, Director of Cardiovascular Medicine at AGH and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Institute. “We look forward to them further expanding the reach of our program’s state-of-the-art cardiovascular care capabilities to communities like Peters Township and throughout Washington County.”
Dr. Wilson and Dr. Rajawat share a special interest in the treatment of coronary artery disease using advanced techniques like radial artery catheterization, a procedure that allows them to evaluate and treat blocked arteries through a less invasive wrist approach. They also specialize in carotid artery disease diagnosis and treatment and lower extremity vascular interventions.
A graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Dr. Wilson completed post-graduate training with a residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at AGH. He served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow in AGH’s Division of Cardiology and is now employed by the West Penn Allegheny Health System.
Dr. Rajawat, a graduate of SMS Medical College, completed his training with a residency at North Shore University Hospital and Capital Health System along with a cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Boston University Affiliated Hospitals. He is board-certified in both cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology and is now employed by Highmark Inc.
“Dr. Wilson and Dr. Rajawat are wonderful additions to the medical staff at Canonsburg. With offices at both the hospital and our beautiful new outpatient facility in Peters Township, the CVI team enables us to offer even more patients in the region access to leading edge heart disease care in a comfortable and convenient setting close to home,” said Kim Sperring, COO of Canonsburg General Hospital.
