Thursday, December 13th, 2012
Canonsburg, Pa., (December 13, 2012) – Cancer patients undergoing treatment that causes hair loss can now receive a free wig at the newly-opened American Cancer Society Wig Salon at the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township.
In partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), the Outpatient Care Center was chosen due to its outstanding medical and radiation oncology departments as well as its central location. The American Cancer Society provides the donated high-quality synthetic and human hair wigs that are available at the salon.
“We are thrilled and honored to partner with the American Cancer Society to offer the wig salon. Patients can choose from a wide range of styles and colors. It’s just one more resource available for patients undergoing cancer treatments…and it’s free,” said Janis Finn, Director of the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township.
Wigs are available to cancer patients regardless of whether or not they have undergone treatment at the Outpatient Care Center. The ACS provides one wig per person.
“Cancer treatments cause many side effects and one of the most visible is hair loss. This free resource renews the patient’s confidence and makes the cancer journey just a bit easier,” adds Joe Levkulich, Satellite Supervisor, Peters Township Radiation Oncology.
The Wig Salon is located at the Outpatient Care Center – Peters Township, 160 Gallery Drive, McMurray, PA. Patients and families can call 1-800-227-2345 for an appointment.
