KDKA-TV-2nd Flight Takes Doctors, Supplies To Haiti

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Another plane took off from Pittsburgh today to take additional supplies and another team of doctors to Haiti to help the earthquake victims.

The plane is sponsored in part by Sewickley businessman Jim Bouchard, who also helped in making the first flight from Pittsburgh to Haiti possible.

The plane left Pittsburgh International Airport early Saturday.

The flight carried another team of doctors and medical personnel along with millions of dollars worth of medicine and basic supplies.

"With that first mission we learned some critical things about what was needed on the ground. And from that, the second mission was born out of what we were hearing," said Dr. Jeff Blaugrund, who was making the trip to Haiti. "On the ground were the needs for antibiotics, pain meds, they were doing amputations and other major surgical procedures without anesthesia."
