West Penn Allegheny’s STAR Center Hosts Free, Walk-In
Heartsaver CPR Classes All Day Saturday

The STAR (Simulation, Teaching and Academic Research) Center at West Penn Allegheny Health System, in conjunction with Community College of Allegheny County, is offering a day of free, walk-in Heartsaver CPR Classes Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees will learn more about the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest and how they can help save the life of someone who is having a heart attack. STAR Center professionals and CCAC instructors will demonstrate the newest CPR techniques and the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED).

What: Free Heartsaver CPR classes, open to the public

When: Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classes will begin each hour and last for two hours.

Where: STAR Center, West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, 4900 Friendship Ave., in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood

Why: An opportunity to learn skills that could be the difference between life and death in a cardiac emergency
