Route 19 corridor potentially lucrative

Other large vacancies, such as the Radicchio Foods Store in Peters, have found new life. West Penn Allegheny Health System broke ground in September on a 54,000-square-foot medical center that will fill the store on Gallery Drive. About 8,000 square feet of the project is already open, with another 20,000 for primary-care physicians expected to open April 4.

"The cost in bricks and mortar to build from scratch would have been much, much higher," said Terry Wiltrout, vice president of operations at Canonsburg Hospital, part of WPAHS. "The ease of construction was really key, along with the convenience of all that free parking."
