Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. WTAE-TV: Identical Triplet Girls Born In Pittsburgh

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Three identical daughters were recently born to a Lower Burrell couple at West Penn Hospital.

Jill and Derek Coury were showing off 7-week-old sisters Peyton, Kendall and Chase on Friday at the pediatric specialty hospital at The Children's Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center.

"We found out at 11 weeks through an ultrasound that we were having triplets. Then, at about 17 weeks, we found out they were identical girls," Jill Coury said Friday.

The three girls were born without using fertility treatment. They have a big brother who is almost 2.

"He has seen them. He visited them and he seems interested, but only at 21 months, he doesn't really know what's in store for him when they come home yet," Coury said.

Identical triplets are extremely rare, only coming along once every 1.7 million births.
