300-Plus Racers Expected for Sunday’s Steel City Showdown,
A Premier Bicycle Race Through Pittsburgh’s City Streets

Allegheny General Hospital Sports Medicine sponsors Steel City Showdown, a one-of-a-kind criterium style bicycle race through the streets of downtown Pittsburgh and the North Side, Sunday, April 17. This unique event promotes fitness, bicycle racing, and the city of Pittsburgh.

Presented by Steel City Endurance and Iron City Bikes Racing Teams, the race will showcase Pittsburgh’s rivers and scenery. Cash or prizes totaling more than $4,000 will be awarded in categories ranging from kids age 14 and under and junior racers under age 19 to over-50 Masters.

Under the direction of Dr. Patrick DeMeo, Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of the Division of Sports Medicine at AGH, AGH Sports Medicine is the official medical provider of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The program also provides sports medicine services to numerous local colleges and high schools. AGH’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is one of the state’s largest and most recognized program with facilities in many convenient community locations across Western Pennsylvania.

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, April 17

WHERE: Starting on Federal Street near PNC Park and proceeding along a closed 0.8 mile loop across the Roberto Clemente and Andy Warhol bridges.
