Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. Visit AHNdonate.org to learn more and register to be an organ donor.

WPAHS Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township Hosts “Lilly Oncology on Canvas,” Artwork by Those Touched by Cancer, April 27-May 4

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

PETERS TWP. - Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an exhibition of art by people diagnosed with cancer, their families, friends and caregivers, will go on exhibit at the West Penn Allegheny Health System Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township, April 27 through May 4.
This free public exhibit, on tour in communities nationwide, showcases select pieces of art from the 2011 Lilly Oncology on Canvas competition. The artwork expresses, visually and through narrative, the life-affirming changes that give meaning to the cancer journey. Themes explored in this inspiring collection range from fear to hope, to loss and survival, to isolation and the embrace of family and friends.
The exhibit is presented by Lilly Oncology in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. Since its inception in 2004, Oncology on Canvas has received more than 3,600 entries from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Winners’ prizes consist of donations to the cancer-related charities of their choice. Art from the competition tours hospitals, cancer centers and cancer advocacy group events.
The 2012 competition is now underway. For more information, including official rules, entry forms and a gallery of previous entries visit www.LillyOncologyOnCanvas.com.
The Outpatient Care Center is located just off Route 19 at 160 Gallery Dr, McMurray, 15317. The Center is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
