Alle-Kiski Medical Center Hosts 5th Annual Health Expo at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills

Natrona Heights, Pa., – Alle-Kiski Medical Center’s (AKMC) Destination Wellness is sponsoring a mall-wide expo with over 60 health-related vendors on display on Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills. 

A wide range of health care services will be represented including heart disease, sleep disorders, senior care, lung disease, cancer care, women’s issues, the functions of the emergency department and childhood obesity. Many local physicians and health care professionals will be on hand to answer your health questions.

New this year, the health fair is offering “Mommapalooza” designed to provide women of all ages with vital resources to help make important health care decisions for themselves and their families.

There will be a special section on childhood obesity and information on choosing healthy snacks for children. Hannah Schofield, from Allegheny General Hospital will describe the benefits of Kidshape®, a Highmark program that promotes healthy lifestyle changes in the areas of diet and exercise for children and their families.

Highlights of the event include screenings such as blood pressure, blood glucose, bone density, body fat analysis, balance, facial sun damage and carbon monoxide breath testing courtesy of Tobacco Free Allegheny. The AKMC Blood Bank will be holding a blood drive in Space 101.

Children’s activities include Caricatures by Bob, a visit from Stuffee © from the Children’s Museum, a Teddy Bear Clinic hosted by Girl Scout Troop #20474, child fingerprint identification and tours of Life Flight and local ambulance services available outside of the mall in Parking Lot #5.

The Allegheny County Health Department will be offering a variety of free lectures in the Destination Wellness conference room, including prostate, colorectal, and ovarian cancer. A free skin cancer screening through Derma Scan will also be available.

AKMC will be partnering with the National Kidney Foundation for a free Kidney Screening as a part of the “KEEP”, Kidney Early Evaluation Program in Space 555, across from Destination Wellness. If you are 18 years of age or older, have a sibling with diabetes, high blood pressure or chronic kidney failure, or if you have diabetes or high blood pressure, please contact the National Kidney Foundation at 1-800-261-4115 to register for this valuable portion of the day. Space is limited! These screenings will occur from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Spring into fitness and get some exercise ideas by visiting the Macy’s Court throughout the day and witness exercise and health demonstrations, including tai chi, ballroom dancing, western square dancing, Zumba®, Silver Sneakers®, karate courtesy of C.S. Kim Karate of Natrona Heights, ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop courtesy of Dance Arts of Tarentum. Join us for a fun day of wellness! At Destination Wellness, we are making shopping a healthy experience.
