Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Recipients Named

Natrona Heights, Pa., - The Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH) Auxiliary Scholarship Committee at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center (AKMC) is pleased to announce that Anna Crawford is the recipient of its 2010 Auxiliary Scholarship. 

Crawford a graduate from Highlands High School was chosen to receive the $1,000 award. She is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Glenn Crawford of Brackenridge, Pa.

Crawford became a hospital volunteer to give back to the community. She remembers walking to the hospital as a young child to get a milkshake and was very excited to be a volunteer who now makes the milkshakes. Anna will be attending Case Western Reserve and will be majoring in bio-medical engineering.

Jane Orringer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Orringer of Fox Chapel, Pa., received an honorarium of $200 from the AVH Coffee and Gift Shop in recognition of her dedication as Teen-Timer volunteer and her work in the hospital’s Coffee and Gift Shop. Orringer plans to pursue a career in the health care field.

The Auxiliary scholarship was established in 2000 to recognize high school seniors who have volunteered a minimum of one year and at least 100 hours as Teen Timers in AKMC’s gift shop.
